About A TENTATIVE ATELIER<\/span>
Designers: Pauline & Nam<\/span>
The brand was established as a design team in 2012.<\/span>
They have presented their collections at Paris Fashion Week since the 2013 S\/S season. Their work is carried by prestigious retailers such as L\u2019Eclaireur (Paris), H\u2019Lorenzo (Los Angeles), and IF Soho (New York).<\/span>
A new studio was established in London, UK, in April 2023.<\/span>

Label Philosophy<\/span>
Each collection tells a story.<\/span>
To fully develop every aspect of the design process, they draw inspiration from narratives rooted in the intersection of various disciplines\u2014including conceptual art, graphic design, music, and cinema\u2014as well as literature.<\/span>
Their collections express a contemporary sense of luxury through the use of natural fabrics such as leather, silk, linen, and cotton.<\/span>
With a background as fabric collectors, the designers possess deep expertise in material research and sourcing. They utilize traditional Tuscan-tanned leather, printed silks and jacquards from heritage mills in Como, and wool produced in traditional factories across Northern Italy and Japan. Innovative blended fabrics are developed in collaboration with mills in Prato, Italy.<\/span>
Several of the fabric mills collaborating with A TENTATIVE ATELIER also supply materials to a wide range of brands, from avant-garde labels like GEOFFREY B.SMALL, m.a+, and taichimurakami to major luxury houses such as CHANEL, GUCCI, and CELINE.<\/span>
